Dog Lover’s Apartment

Riverdale, New York

A couple who live with their Dachshund (and not the other way around!) wanted to do a gut renovation on their apartment in Riverdale New York. The goal was to maximize storage for this small one bedroom apartment, and bring in elements of nature with a slight mid-century feel.

FOYER: With a stroke of luck (and a great photographer!) we captured the family Dachshund under the walnut wood mid-century credenza in the foyer. The tinier, inanimate version of the Dachshund on the credenza, is a ceramic sculpture we found from  from Jonathan Adler.

LIVING ROOM: The wall unit in the living room, was custom designed by us and built by Grange to accommodate both the television as well as the desk area.

We added a new header at the wall that connects the living room into the foyer in order to help define the space. We also added crown and base moldings, and new wood floors throughout, for a richer, more detailed look.

KITCHEN: The kitchen, although small, packs a lot of storage punch! Going for a warmer more rustic look here, we used a tumbled marble for the backsplash with copper decorative inserts that we placed throughout.
